At Barking Acres Country Club, your pet’s safety, health, and comfort are our top priorities. Our facility has been thoughtfully designed to provide a secure and welcoming environment for every guest—from playful pups to quiet senior pets. While we do not have on-site veterinary staff, we are located right next door to a trusted veterinary clinic, providing peace of mind in case of emergency.
Facility Design & Security
Every detail of Barking Acres was built with your pet’s safety in mind.
• Fresh Air Flow: Our advanced air circulation system helps maintain a healthy environment by constantly refreshing the air.
• Tall Perimeter Fencing: Our outdoor spaces are enclosed with 8-foot fencing to prevent escapes and keep pets secure while they play.
• Temperature Control & Alerts: Our climate-controlled suites stay comfortable year-round.
Play Yard Safety
Our outdoor and indoor play areas are designed for safe, structured fun with trained supervision and thoughtful design.
• No Toys in Group Play: To minimize the risk of competition or injury, toys are reserved for individual playtime only.
• Cooling Features: Shaded rest zones keep pups cool and comfortable during warm days.
• Secure Gates: All gates are double-checked and reinforced with carabiners to prevent accidental openings.
• Paw-Friendly Surfaces: Synthetic turf keeps feet cool, clean, and reduces exposure to allergens or pests.
• Size & Temperament-Based Groups: We separate dogs by size and energy level to ensure everyone plays with appropriate companions.
• Trained Staff On Duty: Our team members carry leashes and are trained in behavior management, including tools like whistles and air horns if intervention is needed.
Water Play Safety
We offer seasonal water play through kiddie pools, hoses, and sprinklers—all supervised and set up for your dog’s safety and enjoyment. A pool is also in the works, so stay tuned for even more splash-filled fun.
Suite Comfort & Cleanliness
Each boarding suite at Barking Acres is designed for a safe, restful stay with daily cleaning and routine checks.
• Daily Sanitation: Suites are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between guests using pet-safe, hospital-grade products.
• Comfort First: Raised beds keep pets off the ground and cozy.
• No Personal Bedding: We provide our own freshly laundered bedding and approved enrichment items for safety.
• Consistent Hydration: Pets have access to fresh water at all times during their stay.
• Temperature Control: All suites are climate-controlled to ensure comfort in every season.
Feeding & Medication
We follow strict protocols to support your pet’s daily health and routine.
• Feeding Times: Dogs rest before and after meals to promote digestion and reduce the risk of bloat.
• Special Diets Welcome: We can store and serve refrigerated, frozen, or microwave-prepared meals.
• Medication Admin: We can administer oral and topical medications, with detailed logs kept for accuracy and consistency.
Vaccination Requirements
To protect every pet, we require the following:
• Dogs: Rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza), Bordetella (Canine Cough)
• Cats: Rabies, FVRCP, FeLV (feline Leukemia)
• Vaccination records must be current and provided in advance or at check-in. Pets showing signs of illness (coughing, discharge, lethargy, etc.) will be isolated and the pet parent contacted immediately.
Temperament Screening & Behavior Management
All new daycare and boarding dogs undergo a temperament evaluation to help us find the best group fit.
• Personalized Play Groups: We assess dogs by breed, age, energy level, and temperament.
• Ongoing Monitoring: Our team is trained to spot early signs of stress, illness, or behavior shifts.
Emergency Protocols
• We are located right next door to a trusted veterinary clinic owned and operated by Heather’s husband. In the event of a medical emergency during business hours, our team will immediately escort your pet to the clinic for evaluation and treatment.
• We will contact you or your emergency contact right away to discuss next steps, ensuring you’re informed and involved at every moment. Your pet’s health and safety are always our top priority, and having expert veterinary care just steps away allows us to respond quickly and confidently when it matters most.
